Flash Fiction - writing very short stories

A woman with glasses wearing a blue top and yellow cardigan.

Grace Palmer, your tutor.

Discover how to tap into your creativity to write short stories that matter to you.

Explore writing flash fiction, the shortest of short story forms, weighing in at under one thousand words, and often under five hundred words. Flash fiction is perfect for experimentation and play and is growing in popularity with many opportunities for writers. The lessons will include close reading of texts, prompts, writing time, and discussion. Writers will be encouraged to share their work for feedback if they wish.

Recent testimonials from the course at Ilminster Arts Centre:

You are an amazing teacher. I so enjoy class. and love the challenges (not the right word really) that you put out there for us. reading snippets of stories and asking what comes next do you think, or 'where would you take this'. and working in pairs is a brilliant part of this.

I wish I'd done this years ago.
