An introduction to printing with a gel plate, with Helen Martin.

Helen Martin is a mixed media collage artist who uses a gel plate as part of her creative process. In this workshop we will be exploring how to create one-off prints using a gel plate - a re-usable, synthetic, gelatine-like* plate. We will look at how to create textural and layered effects, which are then combined to produce beautiful papers which can be used in a wide variety of creative practices (such as art journaling, collage, wrapping paper, etc.), or as stand-alone prints to be framed. 

No experience necessary. All equipment and materials for the workshop are provided. We will be using acrylic paints which can stain so please either wear old clothes or bring an apron.

*The plates we will be using do not contain actual gelatine.
