New manager appointed

Ilminster Arts Centre has appointed Bryony Tidball as its manager.

Bryony, an accomplished artist in her own right, has a background in the charity and community arts sectors, having worked for Bridport Museum and several historic houses. She has a first class degree in Fine Art.

Commenting on Bryony's appointment, Julie Manley, chair of trustees at Ilminster Arts Centre, said: "Art and culture have the power to transform lives.

"We're delighted to welcome someone with such talent and enthusiasm for the arts, recognising its ability to connect communities and enrich peoples' quality of life.  Bryony will be working closely with our brilliant team of volunteers to ensure that we continue to inspire and entertain visitors and support artists, craft-makers and performers across the region for many years to come."

Bryony, from Taunton, commented: "I'm thrilled to be joining such an impressive charity that does so much for the community, not just in Ilminster but beyond.  The arts centre has huge potential to develop further, building on its proud pedigree to date.  I look forward to making a positive contribution as it works towards its 30th anniversary in 2025."

Ilminster Arts Centre is based on East Street in the heart of the town. It presents weekly performances for a variety of musical tastes, weekday workshops for all abilities led by talented tutors, and monthly free-to-enter art exhibitions.  It also has a café and a gift shop, showcasing handmade products from 80 craft-makers across the South West.

The centre is open from 9.30am to 3pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays.
