Children’s Christmas Card Competition winners
To celebrate the festivities, Ilminster Arts Centre has unveiled the winners of its Children's Christmas Card Competition, with the winning cards now on sale in the art centre’s gift shop until Christmas.
The winners are:
Father Christmas by Sholto de Silva (age 8): Santa's got a mini-me! Sholto's jolly interpretation of Father Christmas is a festive masterpiece that'll have you reaching for the mince pies.
Rudolf the Reindeer by Isolde-Fleur de Silva (age 5): Isolde-Fleur brings us a reindeer cuter than a puppy in a Santa hat! Get ready for a dose of holiday cheer with her adorably festive Rudolf.
Christmas Pudding by Jason Westworth Ainslie (age 7): Jason's Christmas Pudding looks good enough to eat! A sprinkle of creativity and a dollop of holiday spirit make this card a scrumptious addition to the collection.
Stained Glass by Sicily Hammelburg (age 8): Sicily's creation is like a holiday kaleidoscope! Her stained glass-inspired design is a vibrant burst of colour that'll dazzle and delight.
Snowman and Reindeer by Juliet Oyns (age 7): Juliet's Snowman and Reindeer duo are the dynamic duo of winter wonder. Brace yourselves for cuteness overload – this card is snow much fun!
Bryony Tidball, Ilminster Arts Centre’s manager, said: “We received a sleigh-load of creativity from the young budding artists and are delighted to showcase their magical work.
“In addition to the Christmas designs, there was one card that particularly stood out. Designed by 5-year-old Spencer Churchill, the card features a section from our historic stained-glass windows. We loved it so much, we decided to sell this card in our shop all year round.”
Ilminster Arts Centre is where creativity meets community in the heart of Ilminster. Its Children's Christmas Card Competition is a festive fundraiser supporting the centre’s busy programme of activities, from toe-tapping music concerts to artsy craft workshops.
The centre is open from 9.30am to 3pm, Tuesday through Saturday, with extended opening until 4pm on Saturday, 9 and 16 December. And there's a Christmas Craft Show to enjoy until 22 December, featuring handmade gifts from local craft makers.
“We’ve got a shop full of treasures and a café serving up delights, so come on down and enjoy,” said Bryony.
