‘By Invitation’

'By Invitation' brings together a compelling collection of paintings, prints, textiles, photography, and sculpture, all exploring the profound themes of nature, wildlife, and organic shapes as perceived and experienced by the artists. Each piece in the exhibition offers a unique lens through which to view the beauty and complexity of the natural world.

Featured artists include:

  • Leah Hislop: Known for her site-specific installations and sculptures, Hislop's works integrate seamlessly with their surroundings, encouraging interaction and reflection.

  • Kate Norton: A multi-media artist creating landscapes in yarn and textiles inspired by the Somerset Levels.

  • Lucy Hawkins: An art educator and painter, Hawkins creates semi-abstract pieces inspired by the vivid landscapes of the Southwest, employing a mix of acrylics, oils, and other media.

  • Shena Bulcock: Bulcock's work often reflects the intricate details of wildlife and natural forms, offering viewers a closer look at the environment.

  • Sian Cann: An artist and environmental educator, Cann's practice focuses on experimental fine art photography, influenced by her personal challenges and her deep appreciation for nature's resilience.

  • Ann Fagan: A printmaker and textile artist whose creations are inspired by the patterns and textures of the Somerset landscape.

  • Rachel Moffett: Moffett’s photographs often delve into the themes of nature’s beauty and fragility.

  • Hilary Giles: Giles’ art captures the essence of organic shapes and natural forms with a unique perspective.

  • Wendy Hermelin: Utilizing recycled fabrics and varied techniques, Hermelin's textile works depict landscapes, flowers, and natural forms in stunning detail.

  • Grace Green: A painter whose works explore the fecundity of life and the delicate balance of nature, often featuring abstracted plant forms and organic structures.

  • Ashar: Working from her studio in Langport, Ashar’s abstract oil paintings on wooden panels are inspired by the Somerset Levels, expressing her emotional connection to the landscape.

  • Mike Lanigan: A self-taught sculptor with a passion for stone carving, Lanigan’s work is characterized by his tactile engagement with the material and his love for the rhythmic process of sculpting.

The exhibition runs from July 23 - August 24
